The Symposium on Grand Challenges in Neural Technology (SGCNT)-2013 took place on December 4-5, 2013 at the National University of Singapore.

The symposium program included:

• a panel discussion session on translation and commercialization of neural interfaces

• several plenary sessions on global challenges in neural technology, including: cortical recordings, peripheral nerve recordings/stimulation, BMI/BCI, retinal stimulation, neuromodulation, neuromorphic engineering, and circuits for neural interfaces.

30 speakers from 12 countries (Singapore, USA, Australia, China, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK) addressed key unresolved innovation challenges in in the field of neurotechnology and strategies toward commercialization of academic research.
Symposium co-chairs:

Nitish V. Thakor (SiNAPSE and National University of Singapore, Singapore)

Victor Pikov (Huntington Medical Research Institutes, Pasadena, CA, USA)
